Privacy Policy
MorningText (“we,” “us”) is a private convenience service. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, why we collect it, and your choices. We are not affiliated with any government agency, probation department, or court.
1. What we collect
- Account contact — email address (and phone number if you use SMS alerts).
- Hotline configuration — the hotline number you provide, identifiers needed to navigate that system (for example color/group, PIN, or last-4 digits of an SSN if you choose that system type), language preference, and preferred check time.
- Call results — timestamps, call identifiers from our telephony provider, status outcomes we derive from the recording, and cryptographic hashes of audio for auditability.
- Audio — short recordings of automated hotline calls, retained only for a limited period (see retention below).
- Payment — handled by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
- Support — messages you send us (for example trial signup or support email).
2. How we use it
- To place scheduled hotline checks on your behalf and send you the result by SMS (and in-app if you use it).
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- To communicate about your account, billing, and product updates you opt into.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Retention (summary)
We follow a minimization model. Typical periods (subject to change as the product matures):
- Raw call audio — kept only long enough to process the check, then deleted (not a multi-day vault).
- Internal transcripts — up to about 7 days for system quality; not a primary product feature.
- Normalized status logs (e.g. clear / must test / action required) — kept while your account exists, so you have your own record; deleted when you delete your account.
- Decision / audit hashes — retained as proof a check ran without keeping the audio forever.
- SMS provider logs — typically up to about 90 days via the carrier/platform.
You may request deletion of account data by emailing hello@morningtext.app. We will complete eligible erasure requests within a reasonable period (target: 48 hours for non-legally-required records).
4. Sharing
We share data only with processors who help us run the Service. Today those are:
- Twilio — places the automated hotline calls and delivers text messages (receives your phone number and hotline number).
- Supabase — hosts our database and backend (US).
- xAI — converts hotline call audio to text and helps classify the result; audio is deleted after processing.
- SendGrid — delivers result and account emails.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments; we store only billing references (customer and subscription IDs), never card numbers.
- Sentry — error monitoring, so we find failures fast; not used for user analytics.
- Vercel — hosts this public website.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5. SMS / Mobile messaging
If you opt in to text messages in the MorningText app, we use your mobile number to send customer-care and account notifications about your daily hotline status results, action-required alerts, and related account or support notices.
- Frequency: typically about 1–2 messages per day, based on your schedule. Additional messages may be sent if a check fails and you need to act. Frequency varies.
- Rates: Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt-out: Reply STOP to unsubscribe. You may receive a final confirmation text.
- Help: Reply HELP or email hello@morningtext.app.
- Non-sharing: We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
- Processors: Telephony and SMS providers (including Twilio) may receive your number solely to deliver the service you requested.
SMS program terms are in Terms §4. Public evidence of the in-app opt-in checkbox is at SMS consent.
6. Security
We use industry-standard transport encryption (TLS) and encrypt sensitive data at rest where our infrastructure supports it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Your responsibilities
MorningText is a convenience tool. You remain responsible for compliance with court or probation requirements. Always confirm status with the official hotline or your officer when required.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new effective date on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
10. Access and deletion
Signed-in users can download a copy of their account data or delete their account from the Account menu in the app. We do not sell personal data. We do not keep call audio. Email hello@morningtext.app if you cannot use the app.
